An Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) of the University is established to promote an inclusive and equitable environment for all students, faculty, and staff. It ensures that every student, regardless of their background, has the support and opportunities they need to succeed academically and professionally.
1. Promote Equality: Ensure that all students, regardless of their gender, caste, religion,
disability, or economic background, have equal access to opportunities in education
and employment within the university.
2. Support for Underrepresented Groups: Provide support and resources for students
from marginalized communities, such as those belonging to Scheduled Castes,
Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, minorities, and students with disabilities.
3. Awareness Programs: Organize seminars, workshops, and lectures to raise
awareness about issues related to discrimination, gender equality, and social justice.
4. Grievance Redressal: Act as a forum for students to voice their concerns and
grievances related to discrimination or inequality and ensure these issues are
addressed promptly and fairly.
5. Policy Implementation: Oversee the implementation of policies and programs aimed
at enhancing equality and preventing discrimination in the university setting.
Advisory Role: Advise the University administration on matters related to equal
opportunities and suggest changes to existing policies or the introduction of new
initiatives.
Data Collection: Collect and analyze data related to the participation of students from
different backgrounds in various academic and extracurricular activities to identify
gaps and areas for improvement.
Capacity Building: Conduct training programs for faculty and staff to sensitize them
to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and to equip them with the skills to
handle issues related to discrimination and inequality.
Collaboration: Work with other bodies within the university, such as the Women’s
Cell, Anti-Ragging Cell, and Placement Cell, to create a holistic environment that
supports equality and inclusion.
