About Department

The Department of Sanskrit in Rama Devi Women’s University imparts UG level of teaching. It provides Sanskrit teaching in both Honours and Electives. Total student strength in Honours is 48. The motto of this department is to help students to learn Sanskrit from Vedic period to Modern Classical Sanskrit. 14 papers in Core subjects, 4 papers in DSE and 2 Elective papers are taught to students. From 2019 admission batch, Sanskrit is taught according to CBCS pattern. Papers are taught on Veda, Upanishad, Prose, Poetry, Drama, Paninian Grammar, Ayurveda, Vrksayurveda, Technical Literature ( Jyotisa and Vastu), Socio-Political Thought in ancient India (Arthasastra and Dharmasastra), Ethical Literature (Chanakyaniti and Nitisataka), Translation, Editing and Writing Skill. Each year department produces students of outstanding caliber. Pass- out students are admitted in other state universities and national universities. Seminars and workshops in spoken Sanskrit are organized regularly in the department for the benefit of students. Mentoring and doubt clearing classes are conducted regularly. +3 3rd year students are guided in 14 DSE paper for project works in different areas of Sanskrit learning.
