The PG Department of Economics had its humble beginning in the year 2015 and it has made a mark of itself as one of the emerging Post Graduate Department of the first Women’s University of Odisha. The core strength of the department is the quality of faculty which is competent, qualified and trained in modern teaching and research methods. The Department has been frequently organizing seminars, workshops and invited talks by academicians and eminent economists.
The Department is actively engaged in research and developmental activities that have resulted in the publication of good number of research papers in different fields of Economics. A number of research scholars have published their research work in various journals, presented research papers in seminars and qualified NET examinations. As a leading teaching and women research centre in Odisha, the department holds field surveys, seminars, conferences, panel discussions and interactive sessions regularly in the areas of development economics, rural economics, environmental economics and agricultural economics.
