College Development Council


The College Development Council (CDC) of Rama Devi Women’s University plays a pivotal role in promoting the planned, coordinated and quality-oriented development of the University’s affiliated colleges. The Council functions under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor as Chairperson, with the Director, CDC as Convenor, and includes representatives from the Government of Odisha (Department of Higher Education), the University, autonomous colleges and affiliated colleges.

The CDC serves as an important link between the University and its affiliated institutions, facilitating academic development, institutional strengthening, quality enhancement, faculty development and effective implementation of academic and regulatory requirements.

The University currently has 49 colleges, including one autonomous college, across 9 districts of Odisha, with academic programmes spanning Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Technology, Commerce and Management Studies, and Pedagogical Sciences.

Prof. Shikha Singh serves as the Director of the College Development Council of Rama Devi Women’s University. The Director, CDC coordinates the activities of the Council and facilitates interaction between the University and its affiliated colleges for their academic and institutional development.

Core Functions of the CDC

The CDC:

  • Functions as a policy-making and advisory body for the planned and integrated development of affiliated colleges.
  • Conducts surveys of affiliated colleges in connection with affiliation and academic programmes.
  • Advises the University on matters concerning the development of affiliated colleges.
  • Prepares perspective plans for the development and opening of new colleges.
  • Advises on the rationalisation and implementation of the University's affiliation policy.
  • Supports colleges in their development and in the effective implementation of academic and University/UGC guidelines.
  • Facilitates proposals relating to UGC recognition, autonomous status and other institutional requirements, as applicable.
  • Supports implementation of regulations concerning academic standards and restructuring of courses.
  • Reviews the impact and utilization of developmental grants, wherever applicable.
  • Promotes interaction between University faculty and faculty members of affiliated colleges.
  • Reviews inspection reports and facilitates remedial measures.
  • Prepares the annual report on the functioning of the CDC.
  • Undertakes such other functions as may be assigned by the University.
